Challenges for cohesion, looking ahead to 2035
The objective of this study was to assess the vulnerability and resilience of regions in light of the main challenges expected to arise for cohesion policy in the future: globalisation and technological change, demographic change and the transition of EU economies and societies towards climate neutrality.
The analysis was conducted using five different macroeconomic and regional models, each based on various scenarios. The consolidated results from these models will provide insights into how different types of EU regions and their economies may be impacted by these challenges. Additionally, to enhance the results of the modelling and the vulnerability analysis, qualitative analysis was also incorporated.
